Can you break that down for me?

When I got to work this morning, I found out that our systems were down. At first I waited for the punch line, nope, nada. Well chiiiiiiiiiiiit!

Open email (which usually still works when systems are down) - yep, email says company wide outage on all major systems, no ETA.

Let me point out, we have some real rocket scientists at work! Here goes one of the hotlines, this person shall remain nameless as they have now entered the Stupidity Witness Protection Program.

Our Person: Company Name, This is name.
Nameless: Hi! This is Nameless. I have a customer on the line and I was trying to figure out what is going on with their line. Can you look for me? I can't see it because of the company wide outage.
Our Person: Hon, which part of company wide outage did you not understand? I would use the same thing as you to look?!
Nameless: Oh thanks! I thought maybe you could access it even though I couldn't!

Now I am rapidly searching for something to clean up coffee off my desk, monitor and keyboard. Oh no, it doesn't stop there! Another person grabs the tech hotline as it rings and I hear this....

Umm no I can't provision it, we have a company wide outage. Errr no, I can't do it manually, the systems are all unavailable!

Uhh no I don't recommend you wait at the customer's house for it to come back up...

I can't take your times, you'll need to write them down.

*BIG SIGH* Did I mention that we were having a company wide outage on all our major systems? *hangs up the phone*

Be scared, be very very scared! Morons! Such a waste of my coffee, but they did give us all a very good laugh!

MIA Excuses

Okay so I know I have been a very bad girl when it comes to the bloggin activity! Alas tho work has taken its toll in more ways than one. Not only is it chewing up most of my time and energy, but it is also slowly eating up my brain!

The little bit of "SL/Blog Time" I have had lately has been devoted to handling things with the mall, organizing the upcoming promos for it and of course DJ'ing. I haven't even had a chance to take part of the lodge which I still want to do!

If I seem cranky or bishy, I may well be. If I am quieter than normal it is because I am tired. I wake up tired lately.

Hopefully after this next week, life will be back to normal. I'll try to blog more later.

It's going to be a White Xmas

Too bad it isn't fricken Halloween yet. Yet once again it is snowing, and really coming down. This shall make for an enjoyable Halloween for the kids!

The land in Achyla sold yesterday. I immediately paid back the loan officer so no additional interest could be applied. I'm sure the squatters would had been disappointed if I hadn't already sent their 2000 prims back. WTF! I forgot to turn off create objects. These two peeps had all sorts of chit there. I tp'd Aly in to get a look at it. She said, that's alot of crap! I said mmmhmm watch this! RETURN!The pic below doesn't do the scene justice, but will give you an idea.

I skipped out on the event Friday. It was nothing personal, I just wasn't in the mood. Weekly events tend to bore me. My theory on weekly events is that most people only have a small amount of inventory for it. Therefore, after the first month, you see and hear the same thing over and over.

So I wound up sorting thru inventory. A nasty job, but someone has to do it right? I blame da Jells for this. She was doing hers and I felt like I should do mine. I usually keep my inventory very neat and tidy. After moving SPE my inventory is a huge mess.

Pickle Madness Thursday! I tried to get you a pic, but got booted instead! Jared left his hair and shoes embedded in the highway along our travels. James, Jared and Vasean played the macaras while Aka drove the picklemobile. Unfortunately da pickle was not made for offroad driving. We saw some interesting things and we saw some stuff we wish we never had! Such a guy named Poo humping air. This led to group vomiting. Leave the Poo dude out of the picture, we had a good time.

Hump Day

That's about the only good thing about today. I'd tell you about it but this would be a novel instead of a blog.

List of things that annoy me:

People who don't bother to show or even to call in.
People who decide that they should have VIP breaks and lunches - 1 hour break?
People who do a half azz job and you have to clean it up.
People who are idiots.
People who are idiots.
People who are idiots.

Okay so the last one really annoys me.

On the Noob front, he scored today. Linda walked away from her computer and yes you know it, she left it unlocked. He answered a phone call that was for her and went to her desk. Voila! He sent out an email saying it was 2:08 and can you help me find myself because I am lost. Since it was really 2:23 when it was sent, everyone made sure to tell her she was not only lost but couldn't tell time either. She was a good sport and after gunning for him said she deserved it.

He accidentally scored on me, but the referees said it didn't count. I have a roaming profile. For those that have never used one, they suck! It's cool in some ways, I can log into any work computer and have all my stuff as if I were sitting at my own desk. The pitfall to it is that it can take up to 10 minutes or more to load! If you warm boot your desktop computer, it doesn't lose this link. If you cold boot it, you have to wait for it to find your profile and retrieve it. I warm boot my computer each night, then I just hit ctrl+alt+del to log in. This morning he tried to sit a temp who was sitting with him at my computer, then decided that since someone else was off today, he'd sit them there instead. He shut my computer off.

This leads me to my last annoyance. So not only is my computer off, but things are all moved around! I am one of those people that has everything in a certain place on my desk. You move my mouse, my keyboard, my phone, anything! I am aware of it. It annoys me. A couple of friends at work used to move things on my desk just to see if I would notice. Not much, less than an 1/8 th of an inch. They used to get the biggest kick that I'd know and comment. I am not a fanatic! Honest! I just hate having to reach or look for stuff, I want it in its spot!

Wake me when it's Friday!

P.S. No I didn't mention the stuff moved annoyed me, he'd do it everyday!

Where's the Blogs?!

Okay so I got my new puter yesterday. After James held it hostage for many hours he brings it to me and says, "It's ready!" Errrr I'm on stream - I can't do anything! This after his repeated logging in and out of SL on it telling me how wonderful it was running! Bad James! Frying pan!

And wtf? Where is the blogs? How come my computer didn't come with preset blogs?! Eh?

So this is kind of off the path but ummm did Raf just say something about making excellent lobster? Dude! the crabs being referred to are not Seafood Variety! And topless in my club! I stand on Jelly's side of it being a bad display of skankitude & we are offended! Text Rape indeed! I'm thinking a new nickname may be in order.

Bowling: We won all 4 games tonight, 162 pins more total. If I continue to improve, my team might not replace me! That last step before the anchor foot is still a bit tough, makes it hard to hit your mark but another week or two I should be back to normal. I did manage to get 6 strikes in my 2nd game! Too bad I threw out a bunch of spares. Now I just have to bring that sucky average back up which will be work in itself.

Alright Noob Update: Noob entered building steathily and proceeded to put more spiderwebbing and a huge purple bow that says Happy Halloween on my keyboard this morning. He just set it there, didn't put any effort into it. I promptly returned it and told him if it ended up on my desk again he was going to be eating it for lunch the rest of the week. His computer was secured all day. While he didn't make any mention of what he went thru when he arrived at 7:30am he did mention that it was after 8 am when he finally got started for the day due to some computer issues. I pleaded the 5th.

We got two new temps today. I wonder how good they will be at securing their computer?

Tell Meh!

How did I wind up spending all this time working on my blog? That bright green title, it *had* to go. I think I need a nap now!

Saturday's Fun

James NonBlogger aka Naked Baby told me I was behind! But I was soooo sleepy! So here is for Saturday!

Noob Update!
If left to me, my desk would have nothing of Halloween on it or a simple pumpkin. Cuz I am a hater? Nevah! I found a black cat sitting in my chair one day coming back from break. I say, wtf?! I move it. This stupid azz black cat has now accumulated into my desk being a fricken haunted house! Daily I have people come by and compliment me on how cute my decorations look. Thanks, but its not me, I'm boycotting. I threatened the other day if one more fooken ghost or pumpkin found its way on to my desk I wasn't coming back until after Halloween. That's when my evil minded boss brought me the light up jacko'lantern. Think he's trying to tell me to take a vacation? Maybe I will pic this madness.

So Noob Guy decides I need to be paid back. I get to work Saturday morning to find my entire desk and chair wrapped in spider web. The Noob, he needs lessons! It's not any fun if the person doesn't react to it and there is no one else to watch it. He didn't even get to enjoy it as he didn't realize I had come in and taken it down! HA! I Win! I on the other hand did notice that he was in and made a short stop by his once again unsecured lonely computer....

He's off on Monday so he will miss the immediate wave of Help that he receives at the office.

Dear CoWorkers,

Please assist me in finding a way to remember how to secure my computer when I leave it. My immediate team has attempted to do so and has failed. Please send all your ideas in individual emails so that I am able to print them out and throw away that which will not work. Feel free to pass this on to others you think may assist in this matter and have them send me their ideas as well.

Sincerely,

Unsecured CoWorker

It's also gonna suck when he comes in on Tuesday and receives the many notices from his calendar. I felt that one per hour *should* be sufficient. I may be wrong. It was set to start sending them after he left for the day on Saturday.

I don't think this game is going to see any overtime, do you?

Freaky Friday

Rosie told me - Get crackin! So here it is...

As many of you know, we been doing lots and lots of training at work. We have 4 noobs in our immediate dept. Couple really new, couple been there a over a month now. One of the first things taught, never, never, ever walk away with your puter unsecured. Big NoNo!

We are generous, we give freebies - After a month tho, its at your own risk to walk away. Now there are many things you can do in such cases, here's just a few:

1) Sign 'em up for fan clubs (heyyyyyyyy Michael Jackson and Barney!)
2) Send out mass emails requesting assistance in how to remember to lock computer.
3) Set up multiple occurances on their calendar to remind them to lock it or shut it down (we once did over 40 on someones).
4) Give them all new background pics, screensavers, fonts.
5) Change their mouse preferences (speed, left button now right, right now left)

Otay, so you got the picture. My favorite isn't listed above. But Imma tell you bout it!

One of the new guys has been warned daily this week to stop leaving his puter unlocked or one of these would occur. On Thursday night he went home and left it unsecured again. Bad move! So Linda says, we need to send out email. I say ok, but first let's do this...

Now this is a favorite trick of mine, and it never fails! Do a screenshot of their desktop without anything open. Save it. Now make it the background pic. Right click on Properties and under icons select Hide. This will generate a call to the help desk 99% of the time!

We decide to not do anything else to the computer, this will be fun to watch on Friday. In comes New Guy, sits down at his desk, turns that puter on and starts clicking. Glitch! Reboot! Clickey, clickey, click - not working? Reboot! Dayum still no click! REBOOT! Hell still not working! REBOOT! At this point, those sitting near him can't take it anymore, they break down. So they come chasing meh down to fix the puter. I have this down to a fine art - I fixed it before he could figure out how I did it. *innocent look* What?! There might be a next time!

He's telling meh how he's gonna pay meh back n stuffs. Mmmmmhmm good luck with that! Okay so he came in at noon today - get this! At 3pm he goes to lunch, guess what? Oh yah, you guessed it baby! Unsecured! Yay!! We get to play again!

Boss walks over and says, hey, want to fook with his puter? I say, I already did! He says oh, recent? I say umm no, he did it AGAIN? He says yah, let me tell you what to do!

My boss is good, he is evil, I like his style! He says, send me an email from New Guy saying how much you hate me and this job. Oooooooooooooooohhhhh you got it! Email was lengthy, but here it is in a nutshell.

I hate you. I hate this job. I hate my desk. I hate my computer. I hate this state. I hate you I hate you I hate you.

The boss replies:

I'm sorry to hear you hate your job and myself. You are welcome to leave at any time after giving me your two weeks notice.

On a side note, may I recommend moving to Florida, the age generation may be more to your liking.

New Guys reply:

I obviously left my computer unlocked again when I went to lunch.

The boss printed it out and hung it up at New Guys desk for a reminder of why computers should be secured.

Happy Friday!!
